Reminder About VSP Contract Lab Policy

VSP VisionTM regularly assesses network doctor and member needs to best serve customers while controlling costs and maximizing efficiency and service.

|

In doing so, we are able to continue to reinvest in the latest technology and equipment, highest quality products, and skilled workforce to increase efficiency and quality of service for you and your patients, further demonstrating our commitment to supporting the long-term success of you and your business.

One way we are able to control costs and report quality controls to our clients is by ensuring the use of a VSP® Contracted Laboratory for spectacle lens fulfillment for your patients with VSP Signature Plan®, VSP Choice Plan®, or VSP Advantage PlanSM coverage. However, we understand that certain circumstances may require an exception to this policy. The Non-IDC Lab Procedure (also known as Lab 100) exists to accommodate those situations.

As a reminder, use of this process for these plans should only occur in emergency situations and for a very limited number of other exceptions. Misuse may result in an investigative review of your VSP claims activity.1 Please consult your Provider Reference Manual on VSPOnline at eyefinity.com for details.

VSP is committed to offering you and your patients access to high-quality products and appreciate your business.

1. Please note that except for PROTEC Safety claims and the Proprietary Lens and Frame procedure, the use of Non-IDC (Lab100) for regular Signature, Choice, and Advantage plan claims does not apply to providers who have chosen to opt out of VSP’s contract lab network.
